Action around Bethlehem Children with Disability

Improving the quality of life of children with disabilities across the West Bank

The Centre for Rehabilitation Al Arroub Camp

ABCD was approached by Al Arroub Refugee Camp Rehabilitation Centre for help and they have become our latest partner in 2019.

Nur Shams Refugee Camp

The children clearly enjoy their treatments – to watch a child of four who has never walked take his first steps, initially aided by the parallel bars and then to launch off unaided is truly wonderful

Music Therapy

Music Therapy is a powerful medium which helps children who may struggle to express themselves. This project was initiated in 2015 by ABCD Trustee and Music Therapist, Canon Claire Tillotson, in conjunction with Paediatric Psychiatrist Dr Souha Shehadeh, who leads the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR) Mental Health Team.

ABCD at Greenbelt 2016

In August ABCD took a stand at the Christian Greenbelt Festival at Boughton House, Northants.

We shared a stand in the G Source with Living Stones of the Holy Land Trust and Friends of Sabeel (UK).   On the stand we sold the ever popular crosses and cribs carved by young people with disabilities from the prunings of Bethlehem olive trees.   New on the stand were our Palestinian Sleepover Greetings cards and also a variety of embroidery and jewellery crafted by women in the co-operative workshops recently established in the two refugee camps – Jalazone and Nour Shams – ABCD’s new partners on the West Bank.

One of our Trustees, Firas Sarhan and our administrator, Alison Driscoll where on hand to talk about our work and plans.
