Situated near Ramallah, with 3,682 UN-registered refugees, Deir Ammar is the most recent of ABCD’s rehabilitation centres.

ABCD has just approved $30K funding to establish an occupational therapy department and cover staffing costs for three years. Occupational therapy provides comprehensive benefits focused on helping individuals of all ages regain, maintain, or improve their ability to perform daily activities.

ABCD’s project manager Firas Sarhan, first visited the refugee camp in March 2023 and found they were in dire need of help with two drab rooms, no equipment and unqualified helpers doing their best. However, the local committee were determined that, given financial support, they could make the centre the very core of the community.

ABCD worked on a development plan and injected a budget of £15k to establish a functioning centre which is now thriving, including the recent addition of a new garden. Children are now able to learn and play in a safe and nurturing natural environment.
