staying strong

We fund a team of highly skilled therapists, who deliver rehabilitation programmes in our Centres for a wide range of cognitive, physical or learning problems from birth or as a result of conflict. This can include children with autism, Downs Syndrome and cognitive disabilities as well as children with physical issues such as cerebral palsy.

Identifying disabilities at the earliest possible stage and developing a robust rehabilitation programme is key to achieving positive outcomes. Our centres are open 5 days a week, seeing between 20-25 children a month.

These therapeutic spaces include up-to-date equipment and facilities such as sensory rooms and gardens, as well as play, speech and language therapy rooms which are a haven for families.  ABCD therapists also support outreach programmes and home modifications to families in the community. In some cases, our therapists refer patients for surgery, provide medication and give therapy sessions.

Charity funding also covers essential technical assistance for disabled children such as hearing aids, walking frames, wheelchairs, medical boots, made to measure back supports, orthotics, as well as spectacles.

Working with children and their families in their communities enables generational change.

Success in rehabilitation is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out.
