Hope through Hearing: The Palestine Relay

We’re raising vital funds to build a new audiology centre for Palestinian children by undertaking a symbolic group challenge covering the same distance as the route between London and Palestine.

Walk, hike, run, swim or push to help a Palestinian child hear, play and learn! Together with our supporters, we’ll be collectively covering 2,000 miles on foot, by bike and more. Join us for our launch event, organise your own leg of the relay by setting up a fundraising challenge in your local area, or both. Here’s how you can get involved.

No matter who you are or where you live, you can help us symbolically reach Palestine and raise vital funds by pledging to cover a set number of miles. You can join us for one of our set ABCD events to help us reach our goal of 2,000 miles, or if you prefer, organise your own event in your local area.

Your sponsored journey can take part on foot, bike, wheelchair, or swim, alone or in a group – the choice is yours!

Every month, we’ll update this page with our progress, so check back to see how we’re getting on.

Organise your own leg of the relay

Everyone is welcome to take part in The Palestine Relay, no matter where you are or what your ability is. All we ask is that you:

  • track the distance you’re covering so we can see how close we’re getting to the 2,000-mile finish line
  • pledge to fundraise at least £100 to help support our new audiology centre

You could organise a group walk with friends, commit to a solo swimming challenge, or sign up for a race. If you’d like to join us for the Palestine Relay Launch event, that’s great too!

How to get started

To get started, register on our Palestine Relay sign-up form.

Ready to start covering miles and raising funds? Here’s what you need to do.

1. Fill in The Palestine Relay sign-up form
You should have an idea of what kind of challenge you’re going to commit to, and if it’s a one-off or will repeat, i.e., a half-marathon, 1km a day or five miles a week. Fill in the form here.

2. Create your fundraising page on JustGiving
We’ve got a handy how-to guide here.

3. Spread the word that you’re taking on a challenge
Tell your friends, family, workplace, book club and everyone in between, and encourage them to sponsor you for this wonderful cause!

4. Start tracking your distance!
There are two ways to track your miles. We recommend installing Strava on your phone and joining the ABCD Bethlehem Group, which will log your miles automatically through GPS – find out more on our guide to using Strava.

Alternatively, you can log your miles manually by filling in this form: Palestine Relay – Log your miles. Every step helps us get closer to our 2,000-mile goal, so make sure you keep on top of your log!

Donations up to our fundraising goal will go directly to the audiology centre. Any additional funds will be used to support the charity’s work in line with its charitable purposes.
